Lonesome Animals

I'm exhausted!  Never have I read a book that has totally drained me emotionally and physically, until now.

Lonesome Animals, written by Bruce Holbert and published by Counterpoint Press, is the guilty party responsible for my exhausted state.

Set during the Depression amidst Indian Reservations and the surrounding country, Lonesome Animals follows the exploits of ex-lawman Russell Strawl as he hunts Down an elusive and savage killer of Native Americans leaving behind elaborately carved courses, cryptic bloody messages and clues to his identity.

Part Detective Crime novel and Western, Lonesome Animals is as much about human nature as it is crime.  Strawl is as every bit a vicious as the criminal he hunts.  His turbulent past and talent for finding trouble haunt him every step of his investigation.

The ultimate anti-hero, Strawl is ruthless, merciless, cunning, vengeful and yet likable and the type of person you would want on your side should you find yourself in a serious predicament.
Guided by his own code of honor and justice Strawl is relentless in his search for the killer.

Haunted by his past mistakes, tolerated by his daughter and accompanied by adopted son, Strawl begins to put the pieces together and what he comes up with shocks both him and those that read Lonesome Animals.
