As early as the mid-1940s the U.S. Navy began experimenting
with airborne radar systems.
The experiments continued through the 1950s and in the early 1960s the first of the E-2 Hawkeye series of airborne early warning aircraft were introduced.
As the decades passed the aircraft design and capabilities
changed and improved until the present day where the E-2C Hawkeye “Iraqi
Freedom” five man crew aircraft is now used by nations across the globe.
